Accelerated Christian Education provides training materials for the home educator. The Parent Orientation Guide (Quick Start Kit) contains a Manual, Activity Pac, Scope and Sequence of the curriculum, a Record-Keeping Kit, and one set of Diagnostic Tests.
-
The Accelerated Christian Education program has certain disciplines built into its procedures such as goal-setting, periodic scoring of academic work by the student, and correcting of all incorrect answers. Each PACE presents one of 60 character traits of Christ. There is a poem about the character trait and a verse of Scripture that the student memorizes as the foundation of the trait. The character traits are then modeled throughout the PACEs in cartoon strips. This allows the students to see "good behavior" in action. In the high school English PACEs there are "Wisdom Inserts" to help teens use the Scripture they have learned and apply the Scripture principles to life situations. In each of the Chemistry PACEs there are "Teen Life Principles." The Scripture that is memorized year by year will remain with the students throughout their lives.
-
Many students with special learning challenges have successfully used the A.C.E. curriculum. By using the diagnostic testing, students are placed at a level where they can achieve. Students move through the curriculum as they demonstrate mastery of the concepts. Special adaptations can be made in using the curriculum such as enlarging the pages for visually impaired students.
-
The answer is yes. The Accelerated Christian Education curriculum is optimally used in a Learning Center environment equipped with study carrels. The curriculum design allows students to complete courses in an "independent study" format, and the instructor serves as a tutor when needed.
-
Accelerated Christian Education curriculum begins with Kindergarten with Ace and Christi and offers courses through the high school level. The curriculum includes advanced courses that can be used for academic enrichment or for a high school honors program.
-
Accelerated Christian Education has some excellent learning-to-read programs such as ABCs with Ace and Christi, Videophonics, and English as Your Second Language. We also offer an excellent software program called Readmaster in levels 1 through 12 that will develop vocabulary and improve reading comprehension and rates. These products can be used independently. Other courses are most effective when used as part of our integrated curriculum. For example, our social studies and science courses also help develop reading skills. Since our curriculum is fully integrated, vocabulary, reading level, and content are consistent across subject areas for each grade level. This integrated approach reinforces learning, and the program is most effective when the complete curriculum is used.
-
Students who enter the Accelerated Christian Education program from another curriculum-whether in a campus or homeschool environment-take a series of diagnostic tests to determine accurate placement in the curriculum. Because the English and math diagnostic tests are skill specific, they identify specific areas of weakness. Specially designed gap PACEs are available to help students overcome weaknesses identified by these tests. The social studies and science test measures students’ reading ability and indicates the students’ appropriate grade level placement. For students reading below grade level, the Readmaster program improves reading ability and helps bring students to chronological grade level. The Word Building test evaluates spelling ability and indicates appropriate grade level placement. Once students are placed appropriately, the curriculum builds skills and ensures mastery at each level. Click here for the FREE online version of the diagnostic tests.
-
Yes, you can administer the diagnostic tests or have your student take the diagnostic tests online to see academic weaknesses that need to be addressed and order specific curriculum to meet those needs. You can also use the Readmaster Plus software to drill your students in the areas of spelling and math skills and use the Readmaster program to increase reading comprehension and speed.

While there are advanced level courses that can be purchased, A.C.E. does not have a college to grant credits. Some people take the advanced level courses and use the knowledge gained to take proficiency tests at a local college to demonstrate mastery of comparable subjects and earn credits without taking the courses.
-
-
A.C.E. has two programs for teaching English. For young children there is Speaking English with Ace and Christi, followed by ABCs with Ace and Christi where they learn to read and write English. For older children and adults there is English as Your Second Language where students learn to speak English, then to read and write English. Videos and a workbook are used to teach this ESL course.
-
-
The A.C.E. web store lists curriculum that is written in Spanish and French.

- The plenary, verbal inspiration of the Bible, equally and in all parts and without error;
The one God, eternally existent Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Who created man by a direct, immediate act;
The preexistence, incarnation, virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, substitutionary death, bodily resurrection, ascension to Heaven, and second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ;
The fall of man, the need for regeneration by the operation of the Holy Spirit through personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior on the basis of grace alone, and the resurrection of all to life or damnation;
The spiritual relationship of all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, living a life of righteous works, separated from the world, witnessing of His saving grace through the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
-

-
The math answer keys show how the answer was achieved to help the teacher/parent and student understand how the correct answer was obtained. If the teacher/parent needs additional help in teaching the courses, there are videos that can be purchased to help the student visualize the concepts being taught.

Obtain a copy of the home school laws for your state. This is the first step in deciding whether or not to enroll your student in Lighthouse Christian Academy. If you choose to enroll your students in Lighthouse Christian Academy, complete the registration form and mail it, along with the requested information and fees, to Lighthouse Christian Academy. You will receive training materials and diagnostic tests for appropriate placement in the curriculum. If you do not plan to enroll your student(s) in Lighthouse Christian Academy, diagnostic testing is the first step. If the student is entering school for the first time, you will want to order the Reading Readiness Test to determine if you need to obtain the Preschool With Ace and Christi program or the ABC’s with Ace and Christi program. When the test has been administered and scored, you will know which program to order. If your student has already been in school, you will want to purchase the Quick Start Kit to obtain the training materials and a set of diagnostic tests. Additional diagnostic tests can be purchased for additional students. Based upon the results of the diagnostic tests you will then place an order for the curriculum and materials you need to educate your children.

You can see a description of the content of each course by choosing "Curriculum" on the left side of the A.C.E. home page. When "Curriculum" has been chosen, a list of courses will be displayed on the screen. When a subject is chosen, there will be a list of levels in the center of the screen. When a level, or group of levels is selected, there will be a brief description of the contents of the subject. A complete PACE by PACE Scope and Sequence can also be purchased in our web store.
-
Yes, the diagnostic tests can be administered to see specific skills that need to be learned Curriculum can be ordered based upon the results of the diagnostic tests. If there is a desire to bring lower performance levels up to the student's chronological level, the student will need to complete more pages per day in the lower numbered PACEs.
-
At this time, the A.C.E. curriculum is on an every-two-year evaluation cycle to ensure the information is up-to-date and that the best methods of instruction are being used. However, if there are significant changes in geography or other subject matter, a PACE can be changed to reflect those changes at the next printing.
-
If the student does not have a phonics foundation for reading, there are two programs that can be used. Young children can complete ABC's with Ace and Christi. Older students can complete the Videophonics course. If the student has basic phonics understanding and word-attack skills, but reads slowly, Readmaster can be used to increase vocabulary, comprehension and speed.
-
ACMS (A.C.E. Curriculum Management System) contains four programs. They are Typemaster, Readmaster, Word Builder, and Math Builder. Typemaster teaches keyboarding skills to young children. There are several levels of proficiency from introducing the keyboard to timed drills to build speed and accuracy. Word Builder is used with the Word Building (spelling) curriculum in levels 2 - 8. All of the levels are contained on the CD and the student can choose the Word Builder level the same as Word Building PACEs. There are mastery tests over each set of words. Math Builder contains drills in addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, and time, money and measurement. There are activities to help students master these skills and mastery tests to measure advancement. Readmaster is a vocabulary and comprehension building speed-reading program for grades 1-12. There are 36 stories for each grade level. The first 18 stores in the first level each have 5 vocabulary words. The last 18 stories for level one, and the remainder of the grade levels, have 10 vocabulary words for each story. Students study the vocabulary words for a new story, read the story, and take comprehension tests over the words and the story. When student score at least 80% on the comprehension questions, the computer moves the student to the next story and increases the speed. There is a system of rewards built into the programs. When students pass the mastery tests, they earn "merits". Merits can be printed and used to purchase rewards or they can also earn time playing the games that are also part of the program.
-
At this time our lowest level of curriculum is kindergarten. Kindergarten With Ace and Christi is a thorough reading-readiness program to prepare children to be ready to learn to read by first grade. The program requires three to fours hours per day of instruction time and an hour of preparation time on the part of the teacher/parent.
-
Because our curriculum is inter-related by vocabulary, developmental level, content, it is recommended that the entire curriculum be used. However, it is possible to order individual courses to meet specific needs.
-
At this time, sample pages of our curriculum are not available at our web site. However, if you request an information packet, the catalog contains pictures of sample pages from various subjects.
-
To order a complete grade level, the subjects must be ordered individually. Answer Keys and resource books must also be ordered separately. It is recommended that students complete the diagnostic tests for placement in the curriculum. It is not uncommon that students to not diagnose into the curriculum at the same level in all subjects. Therefore, it is recommended that courses be ordered individually.
-
Many students can complete the high school math and science courses without the use of videos. However, the science videos contain lab experiments that can be valuable to the student. If students are strong auditory or kinesthetic learners, the videos add a dimension of instruction that may better help students better understand the concepts being taught.
-
The story cards have been replaced with Bible Reading PACEs and Animal Science PACEs level one. The PACEs contain pictures that visualize the story being told by the teacher/parent, and there are two pages of developmental activities following each story segment.
-
A student can begin using the A.C.E. curriculum any time of the year. Once the diagnostic tests have been administered, curriculum can be ordered. Because the student can advance at an individual rate, the student can complete more pages per day than is normally completed or the student can work through the summer months to complete a year's worth of curriculum.
-
In the Kindergarten with Ace and Christi and ABCs with Ace and Christi programs, there are manuals with daily lesson plans. When a student has completed these programs, the curriculum becomes highly self-instructional. Vocabulary words, information, instructions, and examples are presented in the curriculum to help students complete the activities and drills with little assistance from a teacher/parent. When students need assistance in understanding concepts, the teacher/parent can read the information or instructions in the curriculum and ask the student probing questions to help the student find the correct answer or understand the concepts.

Yes, high school students should take the diagnostic tests to determine if there are academic weaknesses that need to be addressed prior to assigning high school courses.
-
The specific courses that students are required to take for graduation will vary depending on the type of diploma being earned. Students wanting to earn a college-prep diploma will be required to take specific courses. Students earning a general or vocational diploma may have slightly different requirements.

Those achievement tests are only available to the public schools. We recommend that students take California Achievement Tests on an annual basis to measure progress compared to students across the nation taking these tests
-
In some situations, this can be done. However, some courses are a pre-requisite to the next course. An example is that Algebra I should be taken before Physical Science. The courses are also designed to become more challenging as the student progresses year by year.

It is not recommended that students be placed above chronological level. It is not uncommon that students who are good readers place above level in the Social Studies and Science test. However, that is not a test of content, it is used to determine if a student can read at or above grade level and can then be assigned at the chronological grade level to learn the content of the course. The content of the lower level courses are the foundation upon which the upper levels are built.

In the category of reading, students are tested in Word Study Skills, Vocabulary, and Reading Comprehension. In Math, the students are tested in Problem Solving and Procedures. In language, students are tested in Language Mechanics and Language Expression. Students are also tested in spelling, science, social science, listening, and thinking skills.
-
The Stanford 10 Achievement test is a full battery test. The Stanford 10 tests are in full color. The tests are not timed. That means that as long as a student is actively engaged in the taking the test, he/she can continue to work. The questions in each section are arranged in an easy-hard-easy sequence. This encourages students to continue answering questions even when one question was too hard to answer or the problem too difficult for the student to solve.
-
The school will receive a Report for each student listing the number of possible correct answers possible, the numbers of questions the student answered correctly, the scale score, the national percentile and stanine and normal curve equivalent. A graph of the percentile scores is included, as well. If the OLSAT8 was administered, similar score will be reported for it, as well as a SAI, which lists the student's academic potential as low, medium, or high. Also provided is a breakdown of specific skill strengths and weaknesses. The school also receive sticky label for each student that contains statistical information similar to the student report that can be attached to the student's cumulative record. The school receives a Master list of Test results to see at a glance a range of students that were tested. The final report is the Home Report that is given to the parents. It contains a graph of the percentile rankings and also gives a narrative explanation of the student's performance in the various academic areas that were tested.
-
ACE is now offering the new Stanford 10 and OLSAT 8 (Otis-Lennon School Ability Test).
-
The Stanford Achievement Test has been the standard of excellence in achievement testing for 80 years. The distinctives of this latest edition of the test that prompted the change are: it is full-color, it is untimed, it uses “boxed” answer sheets, it uses an easy-hard-easy testing method, and the Stanford also looks very similar to the PACEs with which the students deal every day. Taken together these make the Stanford 10 bright, interesting, and appealing to the student.
-
The Stanford 10 is an achievement test and the measures the academic achievement in 9 academic disciplines and the OLSAT 8 is an aptitude test measuring the potential achievement of a student.
-
The Stanford 10 Achievement tests and the OLSAT 8 (aptitude test) tests are the new tests that ACE will be making available to our schools. The new tests are produced by Harcourt and will be ordered from A.C.E. and will be shipped from our warehouse.
-
The OLSAT 8 tests are given at the 2nd, 5th, and 8th grades.
-
They are 2002 norms.
-
A.C.E. recommends that students be tested at their chronological grade level or no more than one level below their chronological grad level. A student's test is scored at his/her chronological level. The OLSAT8 is an age-driven test that expects a student to be tested within a specific age range when the test is administered in order to give an accurate analysis of the student's academic potential.
-
End-of-year testing should be administered in April each year with the scoreable answer documents returned to Harcourt no later than May 15. New incoming students should be tested, along with the A.C.E. diagnostic test, in September with the scoreable answer documents returned to Harcourt no later than October 15.
-
Since the tests are stocked at A.C.E., orders should be shipped in the normal turnaround time of all A.C.E. orders. This first year, the test will be ordered after the first of February, 2004.
-
You may choose another test. Local homeschool organizations and bookstores that supply homeschool materials often provide standardized testing. You may want to check what your state’s requirements are with regard to standardized testing for homeschool students.

This could mean one of three things. The first is that someone logged on using your username and password and cleared the shopping cart by selecting the center button at the top of the shopping cart that reads "clear order." The second is that someone has already purchased the shopping cart contents through either Credit Card Purchase or Credit Purchase. The third would be that you have not logged in to the same or correct profile you set up, and your shopping cart is waiting for you under a different profile. Remember that your username and password are your website account security clearance; do not give them out.
